Create dependent ticket types

As an event organiser, you may want to create different types of tickets for your event to offer your attendees the flexibility to choose the one that best suits their needs.

However, you may also want to ensure that the distribution of these tickets is balanced and fair. One way to achieve this is by creating two ticket types that are dependent on each other.

An example could be if you would like to offer your attendees the possibility of bringing (maximum) one friend for free if they have purchased a regular ticket.  

Step 1: Define your ticket types
Start by defining your ticket types, e.g. regular tickets and "bring a friend" tickets.

• Regular tickets are the standard tickets that attendees can purchase to attend your event.
• "Bring a friend" tickets are a special type of ticket that attendees can only purchase if they have already purchased a regular ticket.

Step 2: Create the regular ticket type
Create a ticket type and name it, e.g. "Regular Ticket".
Set the price, quantity, and any other relevant details for this ticket type.

Step 3: Create the "bring a friend" ticket type
Next, create a new ticket type and name it e.g. "Bring a Friend".
Set the price, quantity, and any other relevant details for this ticket type. 

Step 4: Contact Ticketbutler
Now that you have created both ticket types, contact Ticketbutler so we can set the ticket dependency rules for you backend. 

Step 5: Test your ticket types
Once we have confirmed that the two ticket types have been linked, go ahead and test your ticket types to ensure that they are working as expected.

Try purchasing a regular ticket first, then attempt to purchase a "Bring a Friend" ticket without having purchased a regular ticket. You should receive an error message indicating that you need to purchase a regular ticket first. Then, try purchasing a regular ticket and a "Bring a Friend" ticket to ensure that the ticket dependency rules are working correctly.
